Hundreds Stand In Line For H1N1 Vaccines in Pueblo
Hundreds of people have shown up in Pueblo to get the first H1N1 vaccines available in Pueblo County.

The Pueblo County City-County Health Department has announced the H1N1 flu clinic will open for its first day today, Thursday, October 22. There are strict restrictions and rules outlined here.
The following information was released by the Pueblo County City-County Health Department:
Vaccine will be provided on a first-come first-served basis
Target Groups Eligible to Get Vaccinated First:
• Pregnant women
• People who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months old
• Anyone 6 months old through 18 years old with chronic medical conditions such as: cancer; blood disorders (including sickle cell disease); chronic lung disease [such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)]; diabetes; heart disease; kidney disorders; liver disorders; neurological disorders (such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy, brain or spinal cord injuries, moderate to profound intellectual disability or developmental delay); neuromuscular disorders (such as muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis); weakened immune systems (such as people with HIV or AIDS or who are on medications that weaken the immune system)
Once demand by the higher-risk groups has been met and supplies are available, H1N1 vaccine will be provided to anyone who wishes to receive it.
Location: Colorado State Fair Grounds Events Center, Prairie Avenue, 81004
Dates and times:
• Thursday, October 22: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Tuesday, October 27: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Saturday, October 31: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Note: Information is subject to change based on H1N1 vaccine supply and demand. Please call the Public Health Flu Hotline 583-4440 to confirm the date and time of the vaccination clinic and the target group encouraged to attend.
Plan before you attend:
• Do not attend a clinic when ill. Vaccinations will not be given to sick people.
• Bring proof of residence. Vaccinations will only be given to Pueblo County residents.
• Dress appropriate for the weather—you may be standing in line outside clinic locations.
• Wear and instruct your children to wear loosely fitting clothing that allows for arms (legs for children) to be exposed briefly for the H1N1 shot.
