A local girl will be celebrating her birthday with a different kind of party this year.

Bailey Cole will celebrate her twelfth birth with a blood drive Oct. 7 at the American Legion Post 38, 6685 Southmoor Drive, Fountain, Colo., from 3 to 7 p.m. administered by the Penrose-St. Francis Blood Bank.

Tonya Cole, Bailey's mother, recently asked her daughter what she wanted for her birthday and Bailey said she wanted to donate blood. Unfortunately, donors must be 17 to donate at Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, and little Bailey is turning 12. So instead, they opted for the next best thing, a blood drive.

Wednesday, October 7
3 to 7 p.m.
