Hospitals in Colorado Springs are working together with El Paso County Health Department to restrict certain visitors at the hospitals. The restrictions are to help stop the spread of H1N1 flu virus in our community.

Penrose-St. Francis Health Services and Memorial Hospital are limiting the amount of visitors that go through the front doors:
• No ill visitors
• No children 12 years old and under, including siblings, may visit
• Adult visitors are limited to four per room
• Visitors may be asked to wear a mask while visiting, to visit another time, or to adhere to other special precautions

A spokeswoman with St. Mary-Corwin Hospital in Pueblo says children 17 and under should only come to the hospital if they are going to the emergency room or are a patient requiring testing. That restriction will start on Thursday.

The hospitals also say that those with weak immune systems and pregnant women shouldn't visit hospitals unless they are seeking treatment.

If you have any questions about the H1N1 flu and would like to speak to a nurse, please call Ask A Nurse at (719) 776-5555.
