More than 500 American Indian health professionals, community health advocates and tribal leaders from around the nation have gathered in Denver to discuss American Indian health and wellness issues.
The three-day conference began Tuesday and is being held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Denver.
Diabetes is one of the main topics. The Indian Health service says about 16.5 percent of American Indians and Alaska Natives ages 20 and older have diagnosed diabetes.
The conference concludes Thursday with a tribal leaders' panel looking at the future of American Indian health. A traditional closing ceremony will feature local singers and dancers from Juneau, Alaska.
