Why don't we teach our daughters not to dress so trashy and our sons to be more respectful to women. Give our kids guidance as to how to treat people and teach them that abstinence is the way to avoid these life changing diseases, but that if they make the choice to do it anyways they need to know how to be safe and what the consequences are. They need to know what kind of damage they can do to their bodies. Sex and pregnancy and disease are life altering and kids need to understand that "it can happen to them".

totally agree with the comments.. Abstinence only programs are a joke and unrealistic in todays standards. and do not work. What works is Better Safer Sex education , and should include the effects of not using safer sex practices. Parents need to wake up and get their head out of the sand.

Good point David. Let us not forget that most kids are no longer taught morals and values as well.

This study just proves that Abstinence-only programs in schools does not work. We need to teach everyone how to have safer sex. Sex is a part of life, and as long as girls look good to guys, and guys look good to girls, people will be intimate with eachother.

And there are still poeople who are against immunization for HPV! Although most people would like to think that the immunization is not necessary (because kids are not having sex), perhaps this will be the wakeup call that helps prevent the spread of HPV. It's hard to argue about abstinence when this number of kids are infected. And this doesn't even address the number of boys carrying the infection who may be affected in other ways...
